WALNUT CREEK, Calif., January 29, 2018 – CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA Insurer, has again achieved the highest employee volunteer participation rate in the U.S. by a company with 3,000 or more employees. At 99 percent in 2017, this is the third consecutive year that CSAA Insurance Group has achieved the honor.
“CSAA Insurance Group has a long history of helping to build safer, stronger and healthier communities,” said Danielle Cagan, external affairs executive at CSAA Insurance Group. “Our high employee volunteer participation rate illustrates that our employees are committed to caring for AAA members and the community, and that we truly have values-based culture.”
Recognizing the value and impact of corporate volunteerism, CSAA Insurance Group made a dedicated effort to increase employee volunteerism rates in 2012, with an ultimate goal to reach 80 percent. In just three years, the company achieved a 98 percent volunteerism rate in 2015, and repeated the achievement again in 2016. Marking a new milestone in 2017, CSAA Insurance Group increased employee volunteer participation to 99 percent. More than 3,600 employees volunteered at 547 events across the country, contributing nearly 44,000 volunteer hours – a $1.06 million value – to nonprofit organizations.
“Our volunteer program is a strategic effort and is organized to significantly increase the impact employees can make,” Cagan said.
CSAA Insurance Group emphasizes team volunteer events during the regular work day, and offers employees 24 hours of paid time off to volunteer each year. Volunteer events are selected, managed and evaluated by employees to address a variety of diverse community needs. Employees are also supported with other corporate giving programs including matching gifts, Dollars for Board Service, and Dollars for Doers. In 2017, CSAA Insurance Group also received the Civic 50 Award from Points of Light, naming the insurer one of the 50 most community-minded companies in America for the third year in row.
