WALNUT CREEK, Calif., June 10, 2016 – CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA Insurer, has won the 2016 Communitas Award for Leadership in Community Service. The award recognizes exceptional businesses, organizations and individuals who unselfishly give of themselves and their resources to benefit the communities in which they live, work and serve. This marks the third year in a row that CSAA Insurance Group has been honored with this award.
Administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, the Communitas awards are inspired by a vision for a better world through volunteerism, investment and ethical, sustainable business practices. The Latin word, “communitas” means people coming together for the good of a community.
“CSAA Insurance Group has a long tradition of helping people, and we are honored to be recognized with this prestigious award,” said Roger Hancock, manager, community affairs. “Last year, 98 percent of our employees volunteered through our corporate volunteer program, and we are proud that they are engaged to build healthier, safer and stronger communities.”
Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations across the country, the company’s volunteer program annually carries out 500 company-supported projects. Each year, every CSAA Insurance Group employee receives 24 hours of paid time off to volunteer. In 2015, employee volunteers logged more than 46,000 volunteer hours at community services events, including cleanup days at Grand Canyon, Zion and Yosemite National Parks, packaging meals for Stop Hunger Now, crayon sorting with The Crayon Initiative and volunteering at local food banks.
