CSAA Insurance Group Named a “Heartfelt Honoree” by the Monument Crisis Center

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., April 17, 2017 – CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA Insurer, was recognized as the 2017 “Heartfelt Honoree” by the Monument Crisis Center at the community organization’s annual gala. Themed “Feeding our Future”, the annual gala celebrates the collective work of the Center, as well as heightens the awareness of poverty and the effect on the community.

“CSAA Insurance Group has been an invaluable community partner for us, so it was nice to be able to recognize them as the 2017 Heartfelt Honoree,” said Sandra Scherer, executive director at Monument Crisis Center. “Our long-standing relationship enables us to better serve low-income individuals and families in Contra Costa County.”

A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Monument Crisis Center offers a variety of services including food distribution, after-school programs, resume and interview workshops, senior services, English Language Learning classes, and health and dental screenings. Trained staff members are also available to provide one-on-one client support and assistance referrals to other community resources.

CSAA Insurance Group was selected as the 2017 Heartfelt Honoree for ongoing support of Monument Crisis Center’s work in the community. Since 2008, CSAA Insurance Group has provided financial and volunteer support to the Center and last year, CSAA Insurance Group’s Hispanic Latino Employee Association expanded this partnership by leading a variety of community service events including serving lunch to seniors, tutoring children, and collecting donations for and assembling holiday food boxes. As a result of this focused partnership, employee volunteer hours at Monument Crisis Center tripled, and the number of volunteer events increased from one to 13.

“Our business exists to support AAA Members, especially in times of need, and that same philosophy extends to our work in the communities we serve,” said Ravi Poorsina, external affairs executive at CSAA Insurance Group and Monument Crisis Center board member. “The Monument Crisis Center is an invaluable resource in the community and we feel fortunate to play a role in supporting the work they do.”

Caring for the community is an integral part of CSAA Insurance Group’s culture. Last year, the company achieved a 98 percent employee volunteer participation rate for the second consecutive year, which is the highest volunteer participation rate in the U.S. by a company with more than 3,000 employees. CSAA Insurance Group’s volunteer program also earned the Civic 50 Award from Points of Light, naming the company as one of the 50 most community-minded companies in American for the second year in a row.
