Perfect Score on Corporate Equality Index

Human Rights Campaign Cites LGBT Employees’ Benefits & Protections

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., January 9, 2014 – CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA Insurer, is pleased to receive a perfect score of 100 percent from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) on its Corporate Equality Index.

The 2014 edition of the index rates employers on a scale from 0 to 100 percent on their treatment of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers, and investors. This year, 934 companies were rated and 301 earned the top rating of 100 percent. The Corporate Equality Index (CEI) included company ratings on 40 specific policies and practices. Ratings are based on factors like non-discrimination policies, diversity training, and benefits for domestic partners and transgender employees.

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization, working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.                                 

 “We are at the front of a new era in which major businesses are not only meeting ever-higher new bars for workplace fairness, they are exceeding them by becoming social and public policy change agents in the process,” said Human Rights Campaign Workplace Equality Program Director Deena Fidas. “They recognize equality is not just the right thing to do, it is sound business practice.”
