Senior CSAA Insurance Group Leaders Named 'Most Influential Women in Business'

Annual List from San Francisco Business Times Honors Bay Area Female Leaders

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., June 13, 2014 – Two senior leaders at CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA Insurer, were recognized by the San Francisco Business Times for being among the “Most Influential Women” in Bay Area business.

Debora Tomlin, CSAA Insurance Group’s chief marketing and distribution officer, was named to the prestigious list for the second year in a row. The company’s chief administrative officer, Marie Andel, was named to the newspaper’s “Forever Influential” list in recognition of her continual influence on the Bay Area business community.

The award honors Bay Area women who have made a difference as outstanding leaders. They represent public and private companies, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and government entities. Those chosen were recognized at an awards dinner on June 12 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.

“Having Debora Tomlin and Marie Andel among this illustrious group of women is a great honor for CSAA Insurance Group,” said Paula Downey, the company’s president and CEO. “Both of these women lead by example— encouraging others to take risks and rewarding them for doing so.” Downey was previously named to the “Forever Influential” list.

In Tomlin’s role as chief marketing and distribution officer, she oversees areas that include brand, AAA club and agency relationships, enterprise strategy, and direct marketing and sales. Previously she was a vice president at Capital One Bank, where she headed commercial (wholesale) banking, retail marketing, and sponsorships. Before that she held marketing positions at USAA and other companies. Tomlin’s influence also extends to the nonprofit world, where she serves on the boards of the Community Safety Foundation, funded by CSAA Insurance Group, and the YMCA of San Francisco.

As chief administrative officer, Andel is responsible for leading the company’s efforts in corporate culture and communication, talent management, leadership development, employee benefits and services, real estate, security and facilities. She serves on the board of the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter and has been recognized with the Industry Leader Award by the Professional Business Women of California. She also serves on the board of the Community Safety Foundation, funded by CSAA Insurance Group.
