WALNUT CREEK, Calif., April 7, 2015 – CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA Insurer, has won a 2015 Communitas Award for Leadership in Community Service. This is the second year in a row the organization has been chosen for this honor.
Administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), the Communitas Awards recognize businesses, organizations, and individuals that give generously of themselves and their resources, along with those that change how they do business to benefit their communities. A Latin word, communitas means people coming together for the good of a community.
“The overwhelming majority of our employees participate in our volunteer program, which is built on our hundred-year commitment to supporting our communities. We are pleased our efforts have been acknowledged by receiving this prestigious award,” said Roger Hancock, manager, community affairs. “We believe every employee is a powerful agent of positive change and we’re glad we can provide opportunities to make an impact on the communities in which we work and live.”
CSAA Insurance Group’s volunteer program partners with dozens of organizations across the country to carry out more than 440 projects each year. Nearly 80 percent of the company’s employees – from call center workers to top-level executives – participated last year.
Overall, they logged more than 35,500 volunteer hours at community service events, which included cleanup days at Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and Zion national parks; Habitat for Humanity builds; disaster preparedness events; volunteering at local food banks, packaging meals for Stop Hunger Now, and much more.
