CSAA Insurance Group Executives Honored as Most Influential Women in Business

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., June 8, 2015 – Two CSAA Insurance Group executives have been named among the Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business for 2015 by the San Francisco Business Times.

Debora Tomlin, the company’s chief marketing and distribution officer, receives this honor for the third consecutive year. Danielle Cagan, vice president, corporate communications and public affairs, is on the list for the first time.

The award recognizes Bay Area women who have made a difference as outstanding leaders in their organizations and communities, representing public and private companies, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations and government entities.

“It is truly an honor for CSAA Insurance Group to have Debora and Danielle among this powerful group of women,” said Paula Downey, the company’s president and chief executive officer. “Both are exceptional leaders, encouraging their peers to surpass expectations and provide excellent service to the customers and communities we serve.”

Downey was previously named to the San Francisco Business Times “Forever Influential” Hall of Fame list, as was Marie Andel, the company’s chief administrative officer. The “Forever Influential” list recognizes leaders that have been featured on the list for multiple years.

In her role as chief marketing and distribution officer, Tomlin oversees brand, marketing analytics and research, AAA club and agency relationships, enterprise strategy, and direct marketing and sales. In her previous position as vice president at Capital One Bank, Tomlin led commercial (wholesale) banking, retail marketing and sponsorships. Tomlin’s influence also extends to the nonprofit world, where she serves on the board of the YMCA of San Francisco and works to support the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Society.

As vice president of corporate communications and public affairs, Cagan leads the organization’s internal and external communications functions, directs the company’s award-winning charitable giving programs, and oversees the corporate meetings, travel and events function. She also serves as president of the Community Safety Foundation, which is funded by CSAA Insurance Group. Cagan serves on the advisory board for the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation and is a board member for Huckleberry Youth Programs.

Those chosen were recognized at an awards dinner on June 4 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.
