CSAA Insurance Group Earns Top Marks in 2019 Corporate Equality Index

Since 2005, AAA Insurer has earned a perfect score for LGBTQ Workplace Equality

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., March 28, 2019 – CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer, received a perfect score of 100% on the 2019 Corporate Equality Index, extending its longstanding record as a "Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality."

Now in its seventeenth year, the Corporate Equality Index is a national benchmarking survey and report administered by the Human Rights Campaign on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer workplace equality. CSAA Insurance Group has received a perfect score since 2005.

"Our varied backgrounds, experiences and perspectives help us better innovate and problem-solve for customers," said Tom Troy, president and CEO of CSAA Insurance Group. "Diversity enriches our environment, creating a more fulfilling employee experience, and enhances customer satisfaction."

The 2019 Corporate Equality Index rated hundreds of businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. By satisfying all of the criteria results of the index, CSAA Insurance Group earned a score of 100% and the designation as a "Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality."

"The top-scoring companies on this year"s CEI are not only establishing policies that affirm and include employees here in the United States, they are applying these policies to their global operations and impacting millions of people beyond our shores," said HRC President Chad Griffin. "Many of these companies have also become vocal advocates for equality in the public square, including the dozens that have signed on to amicus briefs in vital Supreme Court cases and the more than 170 that have joined HRC"s Business Coalition for the Equality Act. Time and again, leading American businesses have shown that protecting their employees and customers from discrimination isn"t just the right thing to do – it"s also good for business."

The Human Rights Campaign survey is the primary source of information for the Corporate Equality Index rating, and helps gauge trends and best practices among businesses and industries. The survey criteria are designed to encourage employers to participate in the index and advance best practices for LGBTQ workplace inclusion. The criteria are intended to evolve as more employers adopt existing criteria and new best practices emerge.
