WALNUT CREEK, Calif., October 9, 2015 – As summer draws to a close, CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA Insurer, gratefully acknowledges the interns who worked with the company from May through August. Over the course of their full-time, paid internships, participants gain valuable professional experience and contribute to the company’s corporate and social responsibility goals. Many also receive offers of full-time employment.
“Insurance was completely foreign to me, so being exposed to the many facets of claims and the company as a whole opened my eyes to new possibilities,” said Matt Scala, an employee who formerly interned in the Claims Services team. “As an intern at CSAA Insurance Group, I felt like I was at a place where I could have a career rather than just a job – and I was right!”
CSAA Insurance Group internships are part of an immersive program that helps identify challenging and rewarding career opportunities for college-age juniors. Participants are assigned a variety of projects in insurance claims, underwriting, information technology, and actuarial analytics. The program brings important benefits to the company, as well, allowing managers to mentor talented students, identify future employees, and strengthen the corporate brand.
“At CSAA Insurance Group, our interns are part of the team,” said Cathy Tulka, talent acquisition manager. “Program participants are exposed to an inclusive, successful culture that values their contributions, celebrates their accomplishments, and potentially serves as a starting point for long and satisfying careers with our company.”
CSAA Insurance Group interns currently work in California, Colorado, Arizona, New Jersey, Nevada and Oklahoma, and are recruited from nearly two dozen universities throughout the country, including Arizona State University, University of Colorado, University of Oklahoma, and University of California, Berkeley.
In addition to gaining real-world insurance industry skills and making important career connections, interns also participated in charitable activities. Over the summer, interns organized and managed a bake sale that raised more than $2,000 for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign.
