WALNUT CREEK, Calif., July 8, 2020 – CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer, was honored with the 2020 Communitas Award for “Excellence in Community Service” for the seventh year-in-a-row.
Administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, the Communitas Awards are inspired by a vision for a better world through volunteerism, investment, and ethical and sustainable business practices. The Latin word “communitas” means people coming together for the good of a community. The award recognizes exceptional businesses, organizations and individuals who unselfishly give of themselves and their resources to benefit the communities in which they live, work and serve.
CSAA Insurance Group consistently has the highest volunteer rate in the U.S. among companies with 3,000 or more employees, and has maintained an employee volunteerism rate of 100% since 2018. Previously, the company had regularly achieved volunteer participation rates of 98-99%.

Through partnerships with nonprofits across the country, CSAA Insurance Group employees completed 515 volunteer projects last year. Each employee receives 24 hours of paid time off to volunteer. In 2019, employees logged 44,832 volunteer hours at community events, including removing litter at Grand Canyon, Zion and Yosemite national parks, teaching children basic business principles through Junior Achievement, sorting crayons with The Crayon Initiative, and volunteering at local food banks.
