CSAA Insurance Group Appoints Chief Technology Officer and Chief Actuary

Peter Gianusso to lead AAA insurer’s technology strategy; Todd Walker to head Actuarial team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., Oct. 6, 2021 – CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer, has appointed Peter Gianusso chief technology officer and Todd Walker chief actuary and vice president of Actuarial.

Gianusso will report to Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer Paul Acevedo, playing a pivotal role in building the company’s overarching technology roadmap and architecture. Weighing innovation against risk, he will be responsible for providing strategic guidance to Acevedo, IT leaders and the broader enterprise on the technology that will enable successful execution of the company’s aggressive enterprise strategy.

“Peter’s deep business acumen and experience managing large teams as a strategic and transformational IT executive will make him a vital asset,” said Acevedo. “His skills in leading all aspects of key technology initiatives, including analytic capabilities, revenue impact and profitability, will help us achieve and accelerate our ambitious technology goals.”

Gianusso joins the AAA insurer from Flight Centre Travel Group, where he was global chief technology officer for the corporate division. There he was responsible for overseeing central platforms, such as global data analytics, technology modernization strategy and architecture refactoring. Prior to that, Gianusso had more than 25 years’ experience at Prudential International Insurance.

Todd Walker joins CSAA Insurance Group as chief actuary and vice president of Actuarial, reporting to Ryan Vigus, executive vice president, Personal Lines Product. Leading the Actuarial team, Walker will have broad strategic and executional responsibility spanning all core actuarial functions within the company, including personal and commercial lines.

Walker comes to CSAA Insurance Group after more than 20 years at USAA. He most recently served as assistant vice president of the Auto National Product team, where he developed the strategy for and led the execution of USAA’s largest rating segmentation overhaul. Walker is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuary Society, and has served on the board for the Society of Insurance Research as vice president of Public Relations & Communications and as treasurer.
