Since 2021, AAA Home Insurance has offered discounts to eligible California policyholders to reward efforts to make their homes and communities safer from wildfires. The discount amounts, effective dates and application instructions below apply to California policies only. For information about other states, see “Home hardening discounts in other states” at the bottom of this page.
My Home Hardening Discount
What is the discount?
California policyholders with AAA Home Insurance policies effective October 10, 2025, or later, or AAA Rental Property Insurance policies effective January 1, 2026, or later, may qualify for the “My Home Hardening” discount if they meet the applicable requirements. See the chart below.

How can I earn the discount?
Eligible California AAA Home Insurance or AAA Rental Property Insurance policyholders may apply for the discount. Qualifying hardening efforts include fire-resistant vents, multi-pane windows, the removal of flammable materials, and designation as an IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home, Certified Fire Risk Reduction Community, or Firewise USA Site.
If applicable, the community hardening designation discounts are automatically applied to your policy.
There are two ways to obtain the property level home hardening measure discounts:

Home hardening discounts in other states
Homeowners in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon and Wyoming may qualify for a My Home Hardening discount with an IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home Essential or Enhanced designation, subject to applicable policy and eligibility requirements.
